Relationship of psychological characteristics with the injury of professional athletes

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychological characteristics and the damage of word volleyball. The statistical population of the study consisted of professional masculine volleyball players in Mashhad in 96 years. The research method was descriptive. In order to conduct this research, 127 professional volleyball players from volleyball players in Mashhad city were selected through available sampling method and according to the results of the injury questionnaire, two groups of injured (66) and healthy (61) were divided. The instruments used in this study were sport injuries questionnaire, anger scale and competitive athlete's aggression, Ryan and Federer's vitality scales, exercise inventory questionnaire, and stress syndrome questioner. Questionnaires were provided to volleyball players and analyzed by independent statistical T-test. The results of this study showed that there is a significant difference between the psychological characteristics of injured and healthy athletes. And athletes suffering from anger and aggression and stress (behavioral, physical, emotional, and cognitive) earned a high score, while healthy athletes were more sporty and livelier.
