Role of perception of God and meaning of life in predicting resilience of elderly residents in sanatoria

Considering the various physical and psychological stresses in the aging period, especially in elderly residents of sanatoriao, stydying the factors affecting resilience such as perception of God and meaning of life seems necessary. Thus the aim of this study was to investigate the role of perception of God and meaning of life in resilience of elderly residents in sanatoria. This descriptive correlational study was carried out on 225 elderly residents of sanatoria who was sellected using random clustered sampling in Rasht in 2017. The data collection instruments were Lawrence’ perception of God, Steger et al’s meaning of life and Connor and Davidson’s resilience. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics consisting mean and standard deviation and also analytical statistics consisting pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise muliple regression. The results of this study revealed positive relationship between perception of God and meaning life with resilience. The regression showed that meaning of life and subscales of benevolence and providence can predict resilience of elderly. Regarding the determinants of resilience in this research, one can increase resilience by reinforcing perception of God and correcting his perception of God’s acceptance, and designing and using meaning therapy
