Effectiveness of Theatre Pedagogy in Improving Emotional Intelligence in Children 7-12 years in tehran city

Abstract:
Introduction

this study examined effectiveness of theatre pedagogy in improving emotional intelligence of 7-12 year-old children living in Tehran Methods and Materials: This study was an empirical research using two-group pretest-posttest design. Control-group pretest-posttest included an experiment group and a control group. Thestudied population included 7-12 year-old children living in 22 districts of Tehran. The samples included 40 children (20 boys and 20 girls) who were selected by random sampling and evaluated by the measurement instrument. The measurement instrument was the Schutte Emotional intelligence Scale for children; validity and reliability of this scale was confirmed in numerous studies. Data was analyzed by ANCOVA. Findings: Statistical analysis showed that theatre pedagogy (effect size=0.62) increases emotional intelligence of children.

Conclusions

therefore, it is recommended to consider role playing for children to reflect important characters of elementary school children
