Application of Imamzadeh Motifs in Damavand City of Tehran in Designing of Contemporary Iranian Graphic Signs
Islamic architecture and its adornments are always a good basis for the presence of various visual elements, especially decorative arrays. The religious buildings of Imamzadeh are full of richly decorated motifs, which, due to their artistic designs and symbolic motifs, can be used in parts of contemporary art graphics, such as sign design. This article is an attempt to study, categorize, recognize and identity visual features, the roots of beliefs, and the hidden and symbolic concepts of decorative motifs of Imamzadeh in Damavand city and their applications
in designing of signs. The research methodology is based on the descriptive-analytic nature. The statistical population of this research is 39 Imamzadeh in Damavand city in Tehran province based on selective sampling. Research findings: From these samples, eight preeminent motifs have been selected to be designed. Also in order to show the practical aspect of our study, 18 signs of the motifs have been designed in a separate table to be presented to different centers and organs. The results of this study indicate that the area under study, as a small part of Iran, has a considerable capability to provide practical signs.
