Strategies of Oil and Gas Projects, on the basis of Project Management Knowledge
petroleum revenues currently play an important role in the development of our country. However, despite the importance of oil & gas projects, investigations show the failure of many projects. In order to deal with success,this research aims at formulating the strategies to oil & gas projects. For getting the results of research, these areas of project management knowledge are used: project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholder’s management. The research method is descriptive, including five stages: assessing project management knowledge areas, assessing success factors of project management, defining the guidelines for project direction, SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat), and formulating the strategies. The Brainstorming and Nominal Group Technique (NGT) are used for data collection on the basis of expert opinions. The main findings of the research contain a list of strategies resulting from identified guidelines and SWOT analysis output. Some typical titles in strategies are: establishing integrated systems to supervise petroleum projects; developing information systems in order to record the acquired knowledge and experience in projects; directing petroleum organizations toward project-based organizational structure; providing platforms for makeing proper decisions; developing law, oil industry contracts and insurance; developing data-bases of oil industry managers; broadening the skills around human resources; and efforts to provide a network of industry projects stakeholders
