Research Project Compiling Package of Science Popularization Programs in Framework of National Scientific Comprehensive plan

Science popularization is one of the new topics which has captured a lot of interest in recent years. Science popularization is an attempt to reflect scientific thoughts to enable the general public to comprehend the essential concepts of a particular science. In other words, the general public understanding of science is called Science Popularization. Science popularization in a sense is facilitating the comprehension of scientific literature for the people who either are incapable of scientific concepts or do not have access to the preliminary scientific concepts. The primary aim of science popularization is increasing the comprehension of general public about the science. Currently, many countries are reforming the regulations and documents related to the science popularization in order to make their policies concerning science popularization more effective. Considering the experience of our country in recent years and the slow process of incorporating scientific achievements into economic and public spheres and the gap between scientists and the society, the Center for the Scientific Policies of the Country has come to the conclusion that developing plans for science popularization is one of the essential and basic requirements to reach an acceptable base for success in the area of science popularization. As a result, this center has decided to prepare the package of science popularization plan entitled “Science popularization plans package within the framework of the comprehensive scientific road map of the country” with the aim of “explaining concepts related to the science popularization, Models and Patterns of science popularization and the analysis of the situation and status of science popularization as well as preparing the science popularization system in Iran”. In this regard, in addition to the above-mentioned aim, the Science popularization plans package within the framework of the comprehensive scientific road map of the country, is attempting to involve all groups in society in this process and respond to the following question: “Is Science popularization plans package within the framework of the comprehensive scientific road map of the country, possible?” This package is trying to leave the approach of occasional convening of plans and absorbing resources for these events, and arrive at scientific acculturation and persuading the public and policy-makers to enter in this sphere with emphasis on innovation and change in the perception of general public and policy-makers and by offering direction to policy-makers and by pursuing an active and effective approach regarding science popularization is trying to transform beliefs, behaviours, and the scientific participation in society. Maximum utilization of science popularization capacity of the country and proposing an approach for facilitating the process of empowering those who are involved in science popularization is one of the most important instruments this package offers, and this package has been introduced in order to attain this goal. Actualization of Iran’s goals in reaching a higher scientific status at regional and international levels, the transition from the current situation of the society concerning scientific beliefs and the leap toward a scientific society which will follow, requires a substantial transformation in all of the scientific popularization structures. This package includes six programs for science popularization. It has also offered the vision, values, aims, targeted Groups, and has analyzed the expected results, the overall implementation policies, and the challenges facing the science popularization system of Iran.
