The Effect of Environmental Performance on Happiness:A Cross-country Analysis

This article seeks to find the relationship between happiness and environmental quality. So, the effect of environmental performance index on happiness was evaluated by using data sets of 155 countries during time interval 2006-2016 (as biannual) with panel data method. The results indicate that the improvement of environmental performance index has a positive and significant effect of 6 percent on happiness. On the other hand, the results indicate that the effect of control variables including Gini coefficient and negative impact of environment (An average of negative feelings from environment) was negative, while having the freedom of choice is a positive effect on happiness. Apparently, previous studies confirm the validity of obtained results.
