Systematic analysis of factors affecting women-owned home businesses

Despite increasing role and importance of small and home-based businesses in social-economical contribution in developed and developing countries, this topic has not been paid attention and dimensions of growth and development of this type of businesses especially for women have been neglected. In Iran, most of homebased businesses owners are women but small number of employees and traditional way of managing of this type of businesses indicates the lack of motivation or ability of home-based businesses for growth. On the other hand, the first step for designing and implementing any policy related to growth of women's home-based businesses in country, is development of theoretical background and precise recognition of the factors influence these type of businesses. For achieving this aim, present research has comprehensively examined prior studies about factors influencing growth of women's small and home-based businesses, using systematic literature review approach. In this regard, 54 articles published in 2000-2017, were selected and studied after multiple screening process, and findings presented in two sector including thematic and descriptive analysis. Recognizing related factors and developing a model, results shows the obvious theoretical gap in the field in Middle East region and Iran, and country's researchers should have more attention to recognize the women's home-based businesses theoretically and practically.
