Understanding the thematic -structure of the Holy Qur'an: A Multivariate Exploratory Approach

In this paper, the methodology of the discovery of the thematic -structure of the Holy Quran based on a fundamental idea in data-mining and its related methods has been offered and that in some texts, the frequency of word types is a reliable index for their conceptual content, and this feature provides a valid criterion for classifying those words. This method is used to discover thematic interrelationships among Qur'anic surahs through consideration of the abundance of verbal data in those surahs and then the use of cluster analysis in a hierarchical manner. The results reported here indicate that the present methodology has practical results in understanding the Holy Quran based on the semantics of the Quranic words.
