Reviewing the Views and Performance of Agha Najafi Esfahani in the Uprisings Leading to the Constitutional Movement (1883-1953 (1262-1332 Hijra Solar))

The Qajar era has been one of the most decisive and influential periods of the Iranian contemporary history in shaping the modern Iranian identity. In that period, many figures emerged in various political and religious fields who are of great importance in contemporary Iranian history. In this context, the transition period between the Tobacco Movement and the Constitutional Movement is of greater significance. The study of the political and religious personality of Agha Najafi Esfahani (1883-1953 (1262-1332 Hijra Solar)) is important because of the role he played in Isfahan and the central parts of Iran during the sensitive eras of the Qajar Naseroddin Shah and Muzaffaroddin Shah. This analytical library-based paper seeks to answer the fundamental question of what have been the influences of the religious-political approach of Agha Najafi on the historical changes in Isfahan. The findings of this study indicate the anti-imperialist and anti-autocratic role of Agha Najafi in Isfahan, which has paved the way for the formation of anti-colonial and anti-autocratic popular movements in subsequent periods.
