Legal Obstacles to Iran's Accession to the World Trade Organization

The World Trade Organization is one of the most important internationally influential international organizations that is responsible for liberalization and globalization of global trade. It has been replaced by the GATT-50 interim agreement (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) since January 1, 1995, following the Uruguay Round negotiations. In fact, it is more than any other organization or institution of the globalization of the economy. Unlike GAT, which was restricted to merchandise trade, the rules, regulations and agreements of this organization in addition to global trade in goods, also govern global trade in services and intellectual property rights. All countries that want to interact with the global economy and benefit from the international economic opportunity in the process of economic and industrial development through membership in this organization must, in addition to meeting the commitments to liberalize the markets for their goods and services, which are determined during the negotiations, also comply with the rules and regulations of the organization specified in the agreements of this organization and adapt its economic and commercial laws and regulations to the agreements of this organization. The present paper has been compiled with a library method based on descriptive and data analysis. In the following article, the author seeks to clarify the legal barriers (conflicts) of Iran's accession to the World Trade Organization, which, while describing and analyzing them, resolves these issues as well. In addition, with the present situation, it seems to be unreasonable to eliminate or at least to reconsider these obstacles and conflicts in the process of joining Iran. However, the issue of joining Iran to the World Trade Organization should be considered as a word.
