Preliminary study of rangeland management within the combat dust project in south- east of Ahwaz

In recent years, the occurrence of dust phenomenon in Khuzestan province has been increasing in terms of repetition and continuity. This phenomenon has resulted in reduced life quality, threats to public health, reduced air quality, reduced safety of the roadways and .... To control this phenomenon and reduce its damage, it is essential to recognize the characteristics of the origin areas producing dust.
For this purpose, the present study was conducted with the aim of documenting the status of implementation of the laws related to rangeland management within the combat dust project in south- east of Ahwaz. The results of data analysis of grazing licenses issued in the study area showed that the grazing license was issued only for 34% of the area's villages.Moreover, the grazing license dates were old. Therefore, considering the demographic dynamics, livestock and vegetation, as well as the necessity of managing rangelands according to the dynamics of these resources, the preparation of range management plans or audit renewal according to the new guidelines is essential. Also, considering the grazing licenses issued as a criterion for the management of these rangelands, it should be noted that within the combat dust project in south- east of Ahwaz, the number of livestock on average is 10.3 times the allowable capacity. Considering the failure of government management in such sensitive areas, it seems that the research and presentation of an appropriate management model is one of the research priorities of the study area.
