Investigation the Prevalence of Dicrocolium dendriticum Infection in Sheep and Goat, Province of Isfahan and Evaluation of Its Pathologic Lesions in the Liver

The economic and veterinary importance of Dicrocoelium is due to direct damage to the liver, resulting in the loss of significant amounts of valuable protein substances from human diets due to the elimination of contaminated liver in slaughterhouses. The hosts of this parasite are earthworms (host first) and ant Formaica (second host). In order to investigate the prevalence of Dicrocoelium infection in sheep and goat slaughterhouses of Lenjan and Najafabad for four seasons (autumn-winter, spring )from 131521 sheep liver and 19672 liver faeces Inspected in Najafabad slaughterhouse, there were 4660 and 193 hens of sheep and goats infected with dicorrosilum parasites, and from 45713 sheep liver and 3726 liver of bases inspected in the Lanjan slaughterhouse, there were 4281 and 72 sheep and goat liver, infected with of Dicrocoelium parasite, respectively. A total of 30 liver samples were collected for histopathologic studies and after lamination and staining with hematoxylin and eosin method, liver infections, liver tissue destruction, enlarged connective tissue, bile duct hyperplasia the formation of granuloma, liver tissue necrosis, the presence of inflammatory cells in tissue and calcification were observed.
