Springs’ Analysis of Allama Naieni’s Political Thoughts; from Observing Disorder to Offering Solutions

Allama Naieni, one of the greatest political thinkers of Iran, took an important step in explaining new political concepts by using religious and traditional foundations through writing the book entitled Tanbih al-Umma wa Tanzih al-Milla. Therefore, knowing his thought is very important. In the present article, using Springs’ inquiry method which begins with observing disorder and recognizing the problem and ends with delineating the ideal society and offering solutions, we have investigated Allama Naieni’s political thought. In Naieni’s view, the Constitutional Revolution and the formation of the parliament are considered the desired order, and dissolving the parliament and the minor dictatorship are the start of the crisis. Allama concludes that the problem is dictatorship and absolutism. He sees the ideal society in the way of life of the Prophet and the Infallible Imams; accordingly, he offers solutions which revolve round the council, freedom and equality. He uses those concepts to restrain dictatorship.
