Examining the professional knowledge of journalists in city of Zanjan

The aim of present research work is to examine the extent of the professional knowledge of journalists in city of Zanjan by survey technique. The statistical population, were 200 journalists working for mass media in Zanjan who were selected as sample. Data has been collected through questionnaires based on the international principles of professional ethics of journalism. The validity of the questionnaire is based on face validity and the reliability of the questionnaire was more the 7 percent, measures by Alpha Cronbach coefficient. The gathered data then was examined and analyzed at two descriptive and inferential levels by SPSS software. The results of the research show that the professional knowledge of Journalists in city of Zanjan is above the average. Their knowledge about social responsibility principle is more than other principles and other principles examined in this study are as follows: respecting interests, access to reliable information, respect for universal values and cultural diversity, professional dignity, public access and participation, truth seeking, respecting privacy and human dignity, establishing information order and modern global relations and elimination of war and other calamities faced by human being.
