Investigating the Impact of the Socio-Cultural Factors Effecting on Political Orientation in Ahvaz and Yasouj

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the socio-economic status and traditional values and survival values on the authoritarian or authoritarian orientation among the citizens of the two cities of Ahwaz and Yasouj. The population of this study is all residents of 16 years old living in Ahvaz and Yasouj, among whom 770 people were selected by simple random sampling method and multi-stage cluster sampling. The research method is survey and the data are collected using a questionnaire. SPSS software was used for data analysis. Pearson correlation, linear regression and path analysis were used to test the hypotheses and research model. The results of regression analysis showed that independent variables affect the dependent variable and in total explain about 41% of variance of dependent variable. Among the independent variables, traditional values have the most effect and the objective dimension of the socio-economic status has the least effect on Authoritarianism. The impact of the subjective dimension of the socio-economic status was also not significant. The results of path analysis also showed that, in total, direct and indirect effects, the subjective dimension of the socioeconomic status has the maximum impact with the path coefficient of -0.353 and then, respectively, the traditional values with a coefficient of 0.325, survival values With a coefficient of 0.271 and an objective dimension of the socio-economic status with a coefficient of -.179.
