STUDYING THE SPOUSE SELECTION CRITERIA AND ITS SEX DIFFERENCES IN KERMANSHAH CITY

Abstract:
Marriage is the base of family formation, and is the first social :union:. The aim of the present study is to investigate the mate selection criteria among men and women in Kermanshah city. Data collection was prepared by researcher-made questionnaire in the March 2013. Statistical population consists of 400 women who were referred to medical centers for pre-marriage test. Results show that the criterion of beauty for husband selection among women with secondary education is more important than women with a higher education. Findings also show that, relationship between family’s socio-economic status and beauty criteria is significant and positive. Furthermore, it is found that, importance to beauty criteria in wife selection among men is more than women. The relationship between the family’s socio-economic status and the criteria of religion among men is significant and negative. Moral features of the future wife among men with diploma or higher education is more important than other men. The mentioned result is also obtained for women.
