The examination the relationship between health-related physical fitness and Physical self-concept in adolescent

Aim
Physical self-concept plays an important role in adolescence. In this period of life, individual's physical experience, mental and emotional changes, and gender differences are clear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Health's related physical fitness indicators and physical self-concept as well as gender differences between girls and boys in adolescent.
Methods
335 students were selected by random sampling method from random sample of cluster sampling. Participants first completed the short form of the Self-Descriptive Questionnaire (Marsh et al, 2010). Then, for physical fitness assessment, the collection of health-related physical fitness test AAHPERD was used.
Results
The results showed that there was a significant difference between the health-related physical fitness indicators and the dimensions of physical self-concept between the two genders. In addition, a significant relationship was found between cardiovascular endurance, strength and muscular endurance, flexibility, body fat percentage, and overall physical self-concept. As well as between self-perceived body fat, coordination, endurance, flexibility, athletic competence, strength and physical activity and health-related physical fitness indicators significant relationship was found. However, there were no significant correlations between self-perceptual, physical appearance, health and self-esteem and health-related physical fitness indicators.
Conclusion
The results showed that the specific educational programs for health-related physical fitness for both gender should be provided. This suggestion is in line with this fact that the physical fitness is a factor to improve youth mental health and psychological parameters. For example, school curricula should emphasize the promotion of muscular strength and endurance, as well as cardiovascular endurance of girls.
