Abstract:
Conceptual metaphor is a subject in cognitive linguistics by which you may be able to understand the intellectual system and mental structure of the language speakers and determine nations’ general visions through experience. This theory’s application can determine poets’ personal style, inspirational sources, amount of innovation and finally their poetical position. According to this approach, this study has analyzed Salman Harati, the contemporary poet, works and figured out that in Harati’s works, innovation in using conventional metaphors and creating unconventional metaphors have an important role and the link between Nature’s elements, Ideology and Social, Cultural and Political events has led to the creation of cohesive metaphors. The link between these three items has acted like an invisible string connecting metaphors to each other whose results are these fundamental facts that “Nature is Being”, “Life is Moving” and “Life is Fighting”. These metaphorical facts; like a conceptual string have linked all the components of Harati’s poetry and have resulted in his poetry’s coherence.
