The role of popular institutions in supporting the structures and functions of sustainable urban environments

Knowledge and participation of the people are the main pillars of the production of power, wealth, justice and the infrastructure of sustainable cities. Undoubtedly, public participation in the community will make the path towards sustainable development less and less time-consuming, although it is not possible to ignore the activities of the nongovernmental organizations. Thus, considering the role of popular institutions in receiving and reflecting feedback on the approaches and policies adopted, the development and progress of countries, with the use of the power, talent and volunteer presence of the people and their participation is not possible. The research method in this article is a descriptive and analytical study carried out using library methods. In library studies, various types of books and documents related to theoretical foundations of research and its features were studied and used. Nowadays, popular institutions, in other words, NGOs do not have a political and social status in solving structural and functional problems in our cities, and they have had low ability to achieve popular participation.
