The Position and the Function of the Promised Savior of Hindu in the Puranas’ Texts

Message:
Abstract:
“Puranas’ Texts”, as the most important religious sources which incorporates the Hindu inter-religious views about the savior, introduce him as the physical incarnation of the divine aspect of God (Vishnu) and a special person named “Kalki” with unique features. Of course, in Puranas, Kalki is characterized by a human appearance with outstanding physical and spiritual qualities; but in some other Hindu texts, Kalki has a mythical face, in the form of a creature who is half-human and half-horse. According to the teachings of Puranas, the Savior will appear to revive the ethical perfections and divine traditions which have been gradually forgotten in the quaternary periods of the cosmos. In this way, he does not refrain from any war and battle with the demons, the oppressors and rebellions. Although the belief in the appearance of Kalki is not considered to be central in the Hindu religion, it has had many effects on the different sects of this religion as well as the newly appeared religious movements in the subcontinents.
