The Influence of the Shahnama Contents on the Seljuk Ceramics
Ta’zieh a religious play is considered as a dramatic art which color plays a fundamental role, with choosing colors characters will be separated, and this will affect the audience’s mind. In this paper two approaches have been taken in to consideration, the first is to elaborate the mystical basics of color from the eyes of Islamic mystics and the other is to examine the reflection of mystical thought and symbolic conception of color in costumes of characters. Mysticism is indeed one of the richest branches of human thought. The power of influence and the depth of mystical thought penetration in an Islamic society is in a way that no one can deny it. The place of mysticism can be considered as the trust on illumination in the exploration of truth rather than wisdom and reasoning. Most of the mystics revealed their personal experiences by means of linguistic features such as simile, synecdoche, metaphor, amphibology, and symbol, The result of this study which has been done with a descriptive – analytic method, represented that Iranian mystics used color as a coding method and believe it to be the expression of conception, and on the other hand , point to the colors along with the different degree of light and darkness. Some times as the narrator of the above universe and in another time the world, and in the Ta’ziyeh costumes, the color is sometimes the symbol of mystical journey and the hidden world , and sometimes represents an image from the world (along with the degrees of good and evil).
