Analysis of Factors Affecting the Occurrence of Road Accidents

Road accidents in Semnan province during the years 2015 and 2016 were respectively 304 and 261, resulting in deaths and injuries of 4228 and 4395 respectively. Also, due to the fact that the province of Semnan is on the east side of the country, the rate of road traffic sometimes reaches 1000 cars per hour. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the preference of factors affecting the occurrence of road accidents. In terms of target, this research is qualitative in terms of time. The type of this research is descriptive-survey. In this study, we first identified the most important sub-criteria with first and second confirmation factor analysis. Then, from the MADM rating techniques, the FAHP method for weighting has been used as the most important factors and sub-criteria for determining priority. The results indicate that the human index has the highest rank and the lowest rank. In the human index, the fatigue and drowsiness criterion with a weight of 0.098 is the preferred and the criterion of decision making with a weight of 0.30 shows the least priority in the incident. Also, the index of vehicles is placed in the second priority, with the index of insecurity with the weight of 0.083 vehicles ranked first and other criteria in the second to fourth priority in the event of a road accident in the roads of the province of Semnan. Road and environment indicators are also ranked third and fourth on road accidents. In addition, the coefficient of adaptability of man, vehicles, environment and road is 0.039, 0.049, 0.014 and 0.046, which is less than 0.1. Therefore, comparisons can be made.
