The comparison of some nonspecific immune parameters of skin mucus in Neogobius pallasi and Neogobius melanostomus

The present study aimed to compare nonspecific immune parameters and protein pattern of  skin mucus in Neogobius pallasi and Neogobius melanostomus. The mucus samples were collected from 10 specimens ( 5 of each species ). Total protein, alkaline phosphatase ( ALP ), lysozyme and total immunoglobulins of the samples were measured (according to the porotocol). The measured levels of non-specific immune parameters in Neogobius pallasi were, 3.14±0.22, 41.19±0.89, 10.60±1.00 and 0.48±0.02 and in Neogobius melanostomus were 1.23±0.32, 30.88±1.52, 8.78±0.67 and 1.09±0.12 respectively. Non-specific immune parameters that measured in all instances, were higher in Neogobius pallasi and there were significant differences between the two species. Therefore, results showed that skin mucus has an important role in innate immunity and two species differences in response to stressful situations can be partly attributed to mucosal immune parameters.
