Investigation of the pearl oyster spat ( Pteria penguin) growth process with microalgae (Pavlova lutheri) and (Chaetoceros muelleri)

The growth process of pearl oyster spat ( Pteria penguin) was studied under laboratory conditions using Pavlova lutheri and Chaetoceros muelleri cultured with Gillard's F/2  media for 30 days. In this study, four experimental treatments and one control treatment separately and a combination of Pavlova lutheri and  Chaetoceros muelleri each with three replications with 10 spat densities were investigated. Results showed that there was no significant difference between treatments in terms of dorso ventral length (P> 0.05), but treatment 5 caused almost the whole total length. Regarding the height of the heel, there was a significant difference between the treatments observed (P <0.05) and treatment 1 with the best condition, although there was no significant difference between treatment with treatment 2.  From the viewpoint of thickness, there was no significant difference between treatments (P> 0.05). But there was a significant difference between treatments (P <0.05) and treatment 1 produced the highest weight. Survival percent also showed a significant difference in different treatments (P <0.05), and the treatment group 1 had the highest survival, although there was no significant difference between treatment and treatment number 2. As a general conclusion, treatment number 1 was the best treatment, but considering the absence of significant difference with treatment number 2, this treatment can be suitable for the growth of Pteria penguin.
