The Impact of Social Change on Hijab Policy Making

Observing the issue of Hijab, in recent years, Iranian society has witnessed a profound and widespread upheaval. Social life is considered as a local space for the realization of social and cultural policies. While being emanated from the value system of the society, these policies are concurrently implemented in the context of social life. In post-Islamic Revolution era, changes in the value system have affected the policy making and policies related to Hijab. Focusing on the sorts of policies and the trends of the implementation of these policies, the foresaid influences represent a pattern which reveals that in line with the reduction of positive attiudes towards the issue of Hijab in the society, the sorts of policies have undergone a change toward the reduction of the controlling measures as well as the centralization of persuasive policies. Using the secondary analysis method, the present paper, by applying Inglehart’s theory and the theoretical model based on that, tries to indicate the pattern of the influence of the upheavals on the value system in terms of Hijab policies; furthermore it represents the trends focusing on the upheavals in Hijab policy making in forthcoming future regarding the policy making system.
