Explaining the Strategy of Supporting Resistance based on Realism Theory

According to Article 152 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic, "the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the negation of any seeking domination and accepting domination, the preservation of the impartial independence and territorial integrity of the country, the defense of the rights of all Muslims and non-commitment to dominant powers and peaceful relations with non-enemies states". Based on this, the Islamic Republic, as the pioneer of resistance in the region and the Muslim world, has always supported the groups and countries that are struggling to fight the Western hegemony, the Zionist regime and support for the Palestinian values. Meanwhile, some nonsense domestic critics or foreign enemies by criticize Iran's policy to support countries and organizations of the resistance; regard it as contrary to the national interests of the Islamic Republic, and arguing that because the basic principle and guideline in foreign policy of all countries should be national interests, so this policy of the Islamic Republic is contrary to national interests and the principles of realism.

The most important theory, which emphasizes national interests and power in its principles, is the theory of realism. In this paper, it is attempted to use this theory and in line with the components of this theory to explain and analyze the strategy of Islamic Republic support for resistance. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to explain and analyze the Islamic Republic's strategy of supporting resistance based on the theory of realism and the emphasis on the principle of national interests. The findings of the paper show that the Islamic Republic's strategy in support of resistance is a realistic, rational and cost-effective policy in line with national interests. This policy in the Anarchy world, along with being consistent with the national security of the country, has also increased the power of the Islamic Republic.
