Assessment and Scientometric Analysis of the Articles Published in the Security Studies Quarterly Journal (Case study Years 2009 to 2018)
Research is considered an essential element for the validation of science in all disciplines. Since scientific journals play an important role in the dissemination of science, monitoring the achievements will be a significant step in identifying novel and innovative ways. In this regard, the Assessment and Scientometric Analysis of published articles seems essential. The present study aims to analyze the contents of the articles published in the Security Studies Quarterly (during the years 2009 to 2018) using categorical content analyses method. A review of the ten-year process and the content analysis of 261 articles published in 38 issues of this quarterly journal have been carried out using a coded checklist, and the data analysis was performed by Excel and Vosviewer. The research data shows the descriptive statistics and classification of data based on the distribution and frequency percentage. The Assessment and Scientometric Analysis is also on the basis of the results contained in the tables and graphic charts. The research findings show that the greatest frequency of scientific articles (40%) is comprised of the articles written by two authors. The cooperation of academic faculty members is highlighted due to the diversity of scientific centers and the credibility of the participating professors. The increasing cooperation of the doctoral and Master’s graduates in publishing papers is also evident at this stage. The most frequently used research method in the published articles (78%) is the descriptive-analytical method, and 60% of them use a qualitative method. With regard to the research results, suggestions such as the recruitment of scholars and experts in the country, the diversification of the articles and subjects, and increasing the impact factor of the journal have been presented
