An Investigation on the Role of Social Capital in Improving Environmental and Economic Performance through Green Supply Chain Management (Case Studyof Shiraz Industrial Companies)

The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of social capital in the impact of green supply chain management on environmental and economic performance of the organization.  The statistical population of this study is a number of companies in the big industrial city of Shiraz.  In order to measure the social capital 3 dimensions of it which seemed to have greater impacts on the goals of green supply chain management are considered.  These dimensions include trust, cooperation, and commitments and expectations.  On the other hand, for green supply chain management, two of its key activities are Green Purchase and Green Innovation. To test the research hypotheses, structural equation modeling based on least squares method has been used by PPS software.  The results of the research show that green supply chain management, both directly and indirectly, through the intermediary role of social capital, affects the organization's environmental and economic performance.  It is also found that the severity of this effect varies according to each dimension of social capital.
