Female audit committee members : audit fees and Auditor's opinion type

This study researches the role of women in the audit committee on auditor fees and the kind of independent auditor's opinion. This research is the first to provide evidence of the effect of women's participation in the audit committee on audit fees and the type of independent auditor's opinion. The constant characteristics of the audit committee, such as independence, financial expertise and education, are among the characteristics that affect the effectiveness of the audit committee's activity. Some fixed characters of audit committee such as independency, financial profetionality , and education are the characters which are effective on effectiveness of audit committee activity. The current research is conducted in a unique and specific area of research in Iran. The statistical population of this research is all firms accepted in Tehran Stock Exchange during the period of 2010 to 2015. Considering the systematic elimination method, 71 companies were selected as a statistical sample. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the presence of women in the audit committee has a significant effect on the auditor's fees and the type of independent auditor's opinion, and the companies that use the women's audit committee composition, They pay fewer audit fees than other companies, and their type of comment is unreliable compared to other companies.
