Factors Affecting Labor Emigration from East- Azerbaijan Province to Tehran's Province

Abstract:
Leaving location to another social and geographical place for a job or a better job is the most important reason of displacement of human populations at present. In particular, this type of emigration occurs mostly with the migrant determination and independent decision making. Labor migration is also important in Iran and is influential in more migration flows between provinces and between townships. This study aims to identify the demographic situation of labor emigrant from East- Azerbaijan province to Tehran's province and study the factors influencing these migrations. With secondary analysis of data from a sample of %20 of Census 2006, 24,700 emigrants have been investigated. The analysis of labor migration was implemented for headed households migrants that majority are males and are involved in craftsmanship, driving and doing service businesses. The study of probability of labor migrations shows that demographic variables of gender and education level in addition to the destination township, origin township and origin developmental level, are influential in occurrence of labor emigrations from East- Azerbaijan province to Tehran's province.
