Content Validity of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Curriculum based on Public Points of View

Nursing curriculum is to be compatible with patients and health system’s needs. The rate of social responsiveness of these curriculums is not clear. The present study aims at determining the content validity of nursing curriculum based on opinions of experienced staff in health system. The study is cross-sectional and descriptive carried from August 2014 to September 2015. Data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and purposeful sampling. The rating agreement among raters was calculated based on item (I-CVI) and scale analyses (S-CVI). 32 staff were included by age mean of 43 years and work experience of 20 years. Coefficient mean of content validity was 0.83. The range of content validity was 1 to 0.50. Nursing curriculum has acceptable relevancy with clinical care necessities; however, considering specialization in nursing curriculum enhances its content validity remarkably. Therefore, it is recommended that specialization in nursing curriculum be more taken into account. Key words: education, social responsiveness, validity, curriculum, nursing
