Strategic Planning for Sustainable Development of Choghakhor Wetland Protected Area

In today’s world, increasing population and excessive use of natural resources have led to destroy these valuable resources. In this condition, conducting management plans for these resources and applying them seem necessary to preserve and develop the region. Among natural ecosystems, wetlands due to invaluable ecological values require more attention. The aim of this research is evaluating positive and negative conditions that Choghakhor wetland is faced with utilizing SWOT analysis and presenting strategic plans as an analytical tool to manage this region. For this reason strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which this wetland has encountered are investigated and evaluated by experts and afterwards strategic planning matrix prepared. According to the results, obtaining international support, security center existence and available NGOs are the predominant strengths and lack of tourism infrastructures, inadequate infrastructures and lack of online monitoring centers are recognized as the most weaknesses. Finally, considering the results, planning strategic matrix is presented.
