The Ashura Movement and the Search for the Meaning of Life

The Ashura movement is imbued with various aspects of the meaning of desired life for mankind. This is understandable from belief in Allah, in the Resurrection, moralities, aim of life, the status if man, and the question of the evil. Reconsidetation of the various aspects of the Ashura episode shed light on the value, aim, and significance of life. Contemplation over this episode takes man from the outer, superficial levels to the inner and more meaning-oriented aspects of life, hence Shiites' attention to opposing tyranny, supporting the oppressed, and other religious aspects of life. In sum, Ashura aims to direct us to a higher-level meaning of life.
