Major Driver Forces of Water Resources’ Management in the Iranian Agricultural Sector

The main objectives of the present study were to identify the major driving forces of sustainable water resources’ management in the agricultural sector of the country and to develop possible scenarios of the future water status in the agricultural sector. This study in terms of purpose is, applied and used a mixed method based on Cross-impact-balanced methodology. Using targeted sampling method, a panel of experts selected. Major driving forces were identified using a systematic review of authoritative sources and also expert surveys. Data analysis was also performed using MICMAC and Scenario Wizard software. In this study, 12 major driving forces were identified as key factors in water management in the agricultural sector. Finally, along with the two main scenarios, some strategies to improve the water management system in the agricultural sector introduced.
