National interest in Islamic Republic of Iran's foreign policy in Rohani eraDr, Hab Abol HassanShiraziMehdi LakziAbstract:Every country has to formulate an active and dynamic foreign policyin order to be active in the international arena. Foreign policy could be defined as a strategy devised by policymakers for the purpose of serving the national interest, given other countries and international actors. The concept of national interest in Islamic Republic's foreign policy rests on a value judgement and it establishes a framework Iran's foreign policy to adopt the approaches and to provide the means.It seems reasonable to assess the national interest based on the constructivism theory during the presidency of Rohani. The change of Iran's foreign policy approaches in dealing with great powers on the basis of domestic consensus and democratic governance led to a redefinition of Islamic Republic's national interest in Rohani era. The main question of the article is: what is the impact of the national interest on Iran's foreign policy during the presidency of Rohani? The method of research is descriptive-analytical and the findings of research indicatethe sovereignty of public in domestic decision making and pursuing the dialogue and détente policy in foreign policy would protect the Islamic Republic of Iran's national interests.Key words: National interest, Foreign policy, Détente, Iran
