The Relationship Between Body Composition and Physical Fitness and Anxiety Among Store Protection Specialists
Store Protection Specialists job, consists of standing for long time and different work-related stresses. These issues can effect and be affected by their physical and mental health. The present study was conducted to examine the relationship between the physical fitness and anxiety among store protection specialists.
This descriptive correlational study was carried out on 272 muscular store protection specialists in Tehran in 1397. The participants’ anxiety was recorded by Beck Anxiety Inventory. Weight, body mass index, body fat, height, waist to hip ratio were recorded too. Physical fitness factors were measured by sit-up, modified pull-up, vertical jump, 20 meters and 4 x 9 meters sprint and running tests. Kolmogorov–Smirnov and Pearson and Spearman’s correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data using SPSS24.
Subjects were overweight based on mean body mass index (26.17 ± 3.07). According to the results of the correlation test, there was no significant relationship between physical fitness and anxiety (P> 0.05), while there was a significant relationship between physical fitness and most physical factors.
The results revealed that despite insignificant relation between body composition and anxiety, the higher fat percentage as well as the waist to hip ratio and the body mass index of subjects, result in poorer performance in physical fitness factors and lower level of physical fitness.
