A comparative study on the effect of the model of multimedia teaching with the traditional method on the learning and satisfaction of the course of neurosurgery technology (spinal column) in undergraduate students of the Faculty of Para-medicine of Hamadan
Multimedia learning as one of the types of student-centered learning is one of the phenomena of the modern world that has emerged in the information age and in the knowledge-based society. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of multimedia teaching patterns on learning and satisfaction of neurosurgery technology lessons compared to the traditional teaching methods in undergraduate students of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences.
The present study is a quasi-experimental interventional study performed on undergraduate students. The sampling method was a census. The first part of the neuroscience lesson was taught in the traditional way and the second part was taught using multimedia software. At the end of both methods, students' learning and satisfaction in both stages were assessed through written tests and satisfaction questionnaires. Data were analyzed by SPSS 23 software.
According to the paired t-test, the comparison of students' scores in traditional and multimedia methods showed a significant statistical difference (P-value = 0.001)..Also a comparison of students' satisfaction in traditional and multimedia methods according to paired t-test showed a significant statistical difference (P-value = 0.004).
Based on the findings, it was found that designed educational software can be an effective educational strategy to enhance students' learning in the operating room.
