Relation between Organizational Intelligence and Crisis Management in the IRI’s Military Intelligence Services

Military intelligence services play a key part in ensuring the national security with continuous monitor of strategic environments, detection and perception of threats and potential opportunities and presentation of proper intelligence to operational and backing units. Due to the expansion of the present multifaceted and sophisticated environment, the power of mind has dominated that of body; hence, the exploitation of organizational intelligence could reinforce productivity in an organization. In the same vein, the current paper aims at examining the relation between organizational intelligence and its elements with crisis management in one of the intelligence services affiliated to the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). This research is an applied one in respect of purpose, and a correlation-descriptive in respect of method. The population of the study is composed of the employees of the intelligence services of the armed forces whom, due to access and executive authorities’ constraint, 65 persons of the managers and experts were selected as the sample based on “persons in access” method. The instruments to gather data were a 49-item Alberkht standard questionnaire for assessing the organizational intelligence and a 12-item researcher-designed questionnaire as the cycle model in figure IV for assessing the crisis management, the validity of which is confirmed based on the viewpoints of the concerned experts, and the reliabilities are calculated by means of Cronbach’s alpha as 82/0 and 78/0) in respect. The data were analysed by Spearman’s Coefficient of Correlation and SPSS Software, the results of which suggest that besides the positive meaningful relation between the organizational intelligence and crisis management and amongst the elements of organizational intelligence, that of performance pressure is of the maximum correlation with crisis management. It was also recognized that the level of organizational intelligence in the concerned intelligence system fails to rest in the desired position.
