Scientific output by Faculty Members of Libraryand Information Science in Governmental Research Centersin Iran

This study has been conducted with the aim of investigating the scientific outputs of Library and Information Science (LIS) faculty in Iran's governmental research centers and the inhibiting factors of its productiveness in the view of the mentioned centers' faculty during the years 2006-2013.

Content analysis and survey methods werer used in this study. Research tools included CV of the faculty and questionnaire. Using content analysis, the CV of 48 faculty members of the above research centers was surveyed, and using questionnaire, the inhibiting factors of scientific productions in these centers in the view of faculty members were studied.

Based on the research findings, in terms of the production of information items, Regional Information Center for Science and Technology (with 197 counts of production) won the first place, the National Library and Archives Organisation of Iran (185) stood in the second place, and Agricultural Scientific Information and Documentation Center (156) gained the third level of scientific productions. The majority of scientific output were in the form of journal papers and extensively in Persian.
