Forgiveness is one of the important ethical values that promote peace and improve mental health is an important element. In this regard, the present study was (young, middle-aged and elderly) performed to compare the status of different age groups. The method of this research is descriptive of the causal-comparative type. The statistical population of this study was all teenagers, middle-ages and old people in Lande city in 2017-2018. A sample of 90 citizens (30 old people, 30 middle-ages and 30 teenagers) was selected, randomly (cluster sampling). To carry out this research, Ehteshamzadeh et al. (2009) forgiveness scale was used. Data were analyzed by descriptive and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The Findings indicate that the difference between groups in the real sense of meaning is significant (P<0/05) which is higher in elderly and middle ages than in teenagers, but there is no significant difference between middle-ages and elderly people. There was no significant difference between the age groups in the dimensions of control of revenge and control of suffering. The results indicate that as age grows, real perception for forgiveness increases and the present research suggests that the level of real understanding for forgiving in the elderly people and middle- ages is higher than teenagers.
