A Study of Exaggeration use in Kalim Kashani's Poems
Exaggeration,,as the most powerful element of induction in the Indian style, is the most effective tool for materializing emotions and thoughts and also for penetrating into the hidden minds of the addressees. Exaggeration is aimed at defamiliarizing, discovering, and reaching unfamiliar and new meanings and concepts. When exaggeration is used along with other rhetoric and eloquence methods, it can have great emotional and mental effect on the readers and also create great artistic pleasure for them, and will be valued and admired more. Although this magnifying tool has frequently been used in Kalim Kashani’s poems, no study has been done to examine the use of exaggeration in this book. Accordingly, this study aimed at examining Kalim Kashani’s skillful use of different language methods in an exaggerative way through studying more than 11000 verses of his poems. This article introduces and analyses different kinds of magnifying and their elements. The data were analyzed descriptively from the perspective of rhetorical techniques. The frequency and position of various facets of exaggeration was studied. The results show that exaggeration is one of the most significant elements Kalim Kashani has used to express and induce his ideas; he has integrated differentrhetoric and eloquence methods skillfully in different forms and various structures with considerable frequency.
