The Role of Different Educational Method on Self-Care in Patients with Heart Failure
Heart failure is one of the most common, chronic and life-threatening diseases that always impose high costs on the health system. Self-care is introduced as an effective way of controlling the disease. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of different educational methods on self-care in patients with heart failure in patients with heart failure.
This is a review article that searches for various published articles with the key words such as self-care behaviors, self-care educations, cardiovascular diseases and heart failure in internal and external databases such as Pubmed, Google scholar, SID, Science Direct, Civilica, Elsevier, between 2000 and 2017.
Based on the results of the reviewed articles, the use and training of self-care behaviors in controlling and treating patients with heart failure has a significant effect on improving knowledge, self-efficacy and health of patients, reducing hospitalization, consolidating and maintaining educational information. Meanwhile, Self-care education is more effective than other methods in the feedback-based approach. However, compliance with self-care behaviors seems to be moderate and poor in this group of patients.
Evidence shows that the use of feedback-based self-care programs is an effective factor in preventing, controlling and reducing the re-hospitalization of patients with heart failure. Therefore, it is recommended that nurses and other members of the health team, according to the type of care needs for the patients, develop the necessary programs for the training, development and promotion of these behaviors in patients.
