Measuring Mashhad's Academic Librarians' Attitudes to and Readiness for Mobile Learning and Its Devices
The main purpose of this paper is to study the attitudes and readiness of Mashhad's academic librarians toward mobile learning and applying it in academic libraries.
This study used a survey method. The statistical population of this research was 70 employed librarians in Mashhad state universities (Medical and Ferdowsi universities). The sample size was determined 59 subjects according to Cochran’s formula and the data were collected by using the stratified random sampling method. The instrument of the study was a researcher-made questionnaire that its validity was confirmed by professors in the field and its reliability calculated using Cronbach's alpha (0.79).
The results showed that 85% of respondents did not have any information about mobile learning; however, they were interested to know more about it. All librarians have used at least one of mobile devices for personal affairs in their life. In addition, attitude and readiness of the librarians toward mobile learning were upper than the average value.
Librarians‘ positive attitudes to and their readiness for mobile devices show the importance of these devices and also mobile learning provides a good opportunity for academic librarian managers to use these devices in their library services.
