Current status and evolution of medicine in Iran with emphasis on medical ethics

Although medical ethics as a branch of science is considered a new discussion, classic form was first proposed nearly a quarter century ago. On the other hand, medicine is a unique subject among the scientific topics that are related directly to the human life. That’s why ethics is considered an integral component of medical science and its recommends are practical measures for treatment and medical research institutions. Particular emphasis, which is on the country’s religious and spiritual values, is the basis for the considered deeds to protect the dignity and value of human beings. Currently, various rules have been set in order to guide the professional medical behaviors and methods. According to this important point, the present study has been done in order to describe the evolution of medical change, with an emphasis on ethics and its current place in Iran.

This overviewed article has been prepared by searching for library resources and scientific databases, using the websites such as Sid, search engine Google, Google scholar.

History of Medicine in Iran is dated about four centuries before Christ and as the evidences show, since that time, all the Iranian physicians paid specific attention to ethics and have taken many effective actions for promotion of medical ethics. In present time; there are also many efforts being done that it is good to mentioned, the study centers about ethics have decided to add related course to ethics and presenting ethic codes in universities.

In our country, despite the rich historical background, medical ethics has not been found in its right place. Promotion of medical ethics in our country is not separated from medical science so managers, program makers, medical instructors can promote the professional function of caring personnel by presenting instructional programs and codifying right sides regarding observing ethics.
