Reviewing on intensive care unit standards
Observation of engineering, environmental, physical, equipmental and personnel standards
in intensive care units can be reduced hospitalization, costs, enhance the healthy and increased satisfaction of patients and their families. The aim of this study is a review on critical care unit standards.
This article is a review study and information compiling has been done with the use of Ebsco, Ovid, Science Direct, SID databases of the years 2002-2014.
Intensive care units are divided to three levels based on kind of facilities and patients, amount of care. With increasing level, patient health statue and care level become high risk (or more dangerous).
Standards in these wards have been studied in four areas that consist of structural, facilities, equipmental, personnel areas.
The world’s leading organizations act in the field of standardization of critical care units, nursing staffs and critical care presentation. They try to update it according to scientific and research progression. In order to establish standards in the hospitals of Iran, we can make profits from
securing of human force, confirming of control system, rating of nursing services, collaborating between architects and nurses.
