Social Responsibility of School: A Case Study of two girls' middle schools in Mashhad City

Abstract:
The main purpose of this study was to identify the dimensions and components of social responsibility of school and studying them at two girls' middle schools in Mashhad. To achieve this goal, a case study method was used. The key informants included principals, teachers, students, and their parents. In addition, semi-structured interviews, observation and review of documents were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using interpretation method through a coding process. Results showed that, social-political, ethical-cultural, legal, economic and environmental dimensions were identified as the most important dimensions of school social responsibility. As a result, 111 components were identified and extracted as the components of school social responsibility. Results of the study of two schools with the aim of assessing the extent of realization of social responsibility showed that the socio-political, ethical-cultural and legal dimensions are considered more than environmental and economic
dimensions.
