History, process and emphasized the need for accreditation of nursing education

Abstract:
Introduction

One of the indicators of human development, access to public education and higher education. To achieve sustainable development in the fields of science, attention to quality improvement is inevitable. Quality assurance is not possible without evaluation. In this regard ccreditation is a relatively new word recently by educational institutions in Iran, especially in medical sciences has been proposed. The aim of this study was to explain the validity and necessity of accrediation in nursing education.

Materials and Methods

This article is review study based on information gathered from search data bases in scientific and library studies have been conducted in the period of 2001-2014.

Results

Medical education is part of the higher education system that deals with human life and health of society depends on the quality of education in the university. Continuous assessment is a requirement for continuous quality improvement. One way to assess the quality of education in schools is accreditation.or not, has been designed. The purpose of accreditation is to emphasize quality and continuous monitoring of assessment for a lifetime. In most countries, the academic accreditation processes has been done by government agencies, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science. More higher education institutions for the licensing of activities, every 4-6 years, in terms of transparency, specificity, reliability, trust, confidence and relevance of educational programs with community needs are assessed.

Discussion and Conclusion

Nursing is a profession and professional growth, to the owners of the nursing is vital. Higher education system capable of both qualitative and quantitative, requiring sustained and comprehensive development of the system, balanced growth in this dimension. Due to the growing quantitative and qualitative growth of the neglect of consequences such as academic performance, academic affiliation, lack of creativity and entrepreneurship, brain drain and poor production knowledge to this system entails. This requires more attention to the ongoing evaluation and accreditation of universities is regular.
