Abstract:

The importance of the Islamic anthropological studies in the current scholarship is a reason for paying attention and scientifically criticizing works in this area. The present paper is to briefly introduce and criticize the book “What is human in Islam?”. Therefore, referring to its thematic points and some printing features, it is critically analyzed. Its most important thematic point is the attention to the basic role of anthropological studies in developing Islamic humanities, as one of its prerequisites, though this issue could be further analyzed there. Despite the positive points in terms of publishing, its considerable contextual critique is the lack of logical order and structural turmoil. In the following, some of its considerable notes are analyzed, including the way of referring, arguments and citations, incorrect research method, generalization and ambiguity, and the quality of its analyses. Finally, the most important principles and the framework of research components of a scientific research in the area of Islamic anthropological studies are studied.
