The effect of mental workload on stress and Quality of Work Life firefighters
Firefighting is due to high physical demand and activities such as running, rising, and responding quickly to a variety of different situations, endure high mental workload And these sudden make changes in work situations will put a lot of psychological stress on the firefighters. The purpose of this study was investigating the level of mental health in firefighters.
This cross-sectional study was conducted on 65 randomly selected firefighters in Khorasan Razavi Province. The data were collected using the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX), stress and quality of life questionnaire. Data analysis was performed in SPSS, version 20, using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, ANOVA, and independent samples t-test.
The results of stress, NASA-TLX and quality work life demonstrated that the mean scores of were 169.2, 66.4 and 84.3 respectively, stress and mental workload were at a high level and quality of work life was low.
